The most common method is Naegele's Rule: add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your Last Menstrual Period (LMP). This assumes a 28-day cycle. If your cycle is longer or shorter, the tool adjusts automatically. Only about 5% of babies are born exactly on their due date — the normal range is 37–42 weeks.
This tool uses the same formulas used by medical professionals. However, an ultrasound scan (especially in the first trimester) gives a more accurate due date by measuring the baby directly. Always confirm dates with your healthcare provider.
Gestational age (used by doctors) counts from the first day of your LMP — so you are considered 2 weeks pregnant at conception. Fetal age counts from the actual date of conception and is 2 weeks less. This calculator uses gestational age, which is the standard medical convention.
